In the context of Covid 19, steps will be taken to include educated women and youth in the Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme to ensure income for unemployed youth.
The scheme is envisaged to provide employment guarantee subsidy to entrepreneurs if they employ young men and women as apprentices or interns in private enterprises. The current situation is that young people who go for apprenticeships do not get any money. But as part of the Employment Guarantee Scheme, entrepreneurs will be able to pay young working people through bank accounts.
The government is trying to overcome the financial crisis in the families during the Covid period by taking such innovative measures. Unemployed youth and entrepreneurs will be relieved by this move of the employment guarantee scheme, the minister said in a Facebook post.
