The fifth bathing festival of Mahakumbh 2025 Maghi Purnima thronged the devotees. By 10 am on Wednesday morning, more than 1.30 crore devotees took a holy bath at Sangam and Ganga Ghats. Devotees continue to come, due to which a huge crowd is being seen in the entire fair area.
Along with Maghi Purnima, the resolve of more than 10 lakh devotees doing Kalpavas in Mahakumbh was completed. Now they are departing for their respective homes. According to the fair administration, more than 46.25 crore devotees have taken a dip in the Sangam till 11 February. There is a possibility that a new record can be made on the bath of Magh Purnima and Mahashivaratri.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is monitoring the Mahakumbh Mela from his ‘war room’ in Lucknow since 4 am today. He was accompanied by Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and other officers.
Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that 46-47 crore devotees have come to Mahakumbh so far. He said that new techniques were used for better management, taking lessons from the lapse during the Mauni Amavasya bath.
He said, “Strict arrangements have been made for crowd control in Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Vindhyachal and Ayodhya. War room has been built in Lucknow, where live feed is being taken from more than 2500 cameras. Railways are also running more than 400 trains on the main bathing day and 350 trains are operating daily. ”
Due to the Maghi Purnima bath, a huge crowd gathered at Prayagraj railway station. Trains were seen packed with passengers, while thousands of devotees were seen waiting for the train for their destination on the platform.
Now the next big bathing festival will be of Mahashivaratri, on which millions of devotees are likely to rise again. The administration has started extensive preparations for this.
