Despite cold and fog, a huge crowd of devotees gathered at Triveni Sangam on Tuesday to take a dip in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. According to Uttar Pradesh government data, more than 15.97 lakh devotees took a dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on the ninth day of Maha Kumbh.
As of January 20, more than 88.1 million people have taken a dip in the holy confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mysterious Saraswati. On Tuesday morning, there was a dense blanket of fog in Prayagraj city and the weather remained bad in the city.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Prayagraj today is 11 degrees Celsius, and there is forecast of fog in the morning and clear sky during the day. Flight operations remained normal at Prayagraj airport amidst dense fog in the morning. Thousands of people gathered at the ghats of Sangam to take a holy dip in Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
On Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy expressed her immense happiness on reaching Prayagraj to participate in the Mahakumbh, saying that she is excited, hopeful and very happy. He is on a three-day tour of Mahakumbh. Speaking to ANI, Sudha Murthy said, “I am very excited because it is ‘Teerthraj’. This (Maha Kumbh) has come after 144 years and I am excited, hopeful and extremely happy. I am here for three days.”
