Magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits Taiwan


An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 hit northeastern Taiwan and a woman was injured.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was 21 km southeast of Yilan County.

Tremors were recorded at a depth of 64.5 km.

According to local media reports, a rockfall occurred in Taroko National Park in southern Ilani, as a result of which a woman was injured and one car was damaged.

The tremors were felt in the capital of Taiwan province, Taipei city.

The work of the subway and ground public transport has been suspended.

The Central Taiwan Weather Bureau noted that the magnitude of the tremors was 6.5.

There are no casualties as a result of the earthquake.
