Macron seeks proposal to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees

French President Emmanuel Macron delivered a speech at the 26th United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Calling on the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases to make recommendations within 15 days before the end of the summit in order to achieve the goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees, Macron said that the poor countries are most exposed to the problems caused by climate change.

Macron stated that rich countries should make financial contributions to solve climate-related problems.

Expressing that the commercial agreements signed between the countries should be in accordance with the determined targets regarding the climate, Macron emphasized that local solutions should be found to the climate-related problems in Africa and South America.
