Voting has reached 50 percent in many Lok Sabha seats by 2 pm for the second phase on 26 April 2024. Elections are considered a festival of democracy and the Election Commission also takes necessary steps to increase voting. Many people are not able to vote because they do not get the Voter ID card on time. Or the Voter ID card is lost or you have forgotten to bring it with you. But there is a solution for this also. If your name is in the voter list then you can vote even without voter ID card. However, for this it is necessary for you to have one of the 12 identity cards.
It is necessary to have name in the voter list
Voter ID card is for the identification of the voter. But if you do not have a voter card, or you live somewhere outside and have forgotten to bring the voter card with you, then there are some documents with which you can vote. These will be considered helpful in proving your identity. But for this your name should be in the voter list. Therefore, also check whether your name is in the list or not.

According to the Election Commission’s notification dated April 2, 2024, these are optional documents, which you can use to cast your vote. But your name should be in the voter list.

3. MNREGA Job Card
4. Driving License
5. Indian Passport
6. Pension document with photo
7. Service Identity Card with photograph
8. Bank or post office passbook with photograph
9. Health Insurance Smart Card (Labor Ministry)
10. Unique Disability Identification Card (UDID)
11. Government identity cards of MPs, MLAs, Legislative Council members
12. Smart card issued by the Registrar General of India under National Population Register

First of all go to the Election Commission website https://voters.eci.gov.in/.
Click on Search in Electoral Roll
Select your language by clicking Select Language
Click on Search by EPIC
Enter EPIC number in the blank box
Enter your state name in the blank box
After that enter the captcha code
After this you will know whether your name is in the voter list or not.
Check name in voter list through message
For this you have to send only one SMS. You write EPIC number and send SMS to 1950. For example, if your EPIC number is ‘87354328’ then you have to message – ECI 87354328. After which you will know whether your name is in the list or not.
