The draw for the round of 16 matches of the Copa del Rey is being held this Wednesday in the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas, headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The only survivor of the 2nd RFEF, Pontevedra, will play against Getafe and will try to eliminate another Primera team again, as they already did against Villarreal and Mallorca. Ourense, from the 1st RFEF, will do so against Valencia, after having kicked Valladolid out of the Cup. The two Galician teams will play at home, as they belong to a lower category.
Two Second Division teams, Almería and Elche, are also still alive in the cup tournament and will play at home in the round of 16. The rest of the matches will be between First Division teams: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Betis, Rayo, Leganés, Celta, Atlético, Osasuna, Athletic, and Real Sociedad have yet to know their rival. In the case of matches between these clubs, the one whose ball comes out first will be the home team.
The matches will be played next week, on the 14th, 15th and 16th. The teams that overcome this round to reach the quarterfinals will play on February 5th, also in a single match. The semifinals, the only round-trip eliminatory, will be on February 26 and April 2. The final will be played on April 26.
