After most of the Mexican teams were eliminated from the Leagues CupLiga MX authorities have decided to resume activities a week ahead of schedule, as announced in a statement through social networks.
Initially, it was thought that the local teams would resume the games until Friday, August 25 with matchday 5. However, So far, 16 of the 18 squads that make up the maximum circuit of Mexican soccer are no longer participatingin the international contest and it will be this August 18 when the break will be removed from the Opening 2023.
Tomorrow the dates and times of the matches of matchday 4 will be announced, with the exception of the matches in Monterrey and Querétaro that will remain pending, since they are the only teams that are still fighting for the Leagues Cup title; however, in the event of not advancing to the semifinals, both may be available for the following week.
Both Rayados and Gallos Blancos will face LAFC and Philadelphia Union, respectively the same August 11. So, if they manage to get their pass to the next round, only their matches in the local league of the corresponding date will be postponed for another day.
Five friendly matches are scheduled for this weekend that will take place with the participation of eight Liga MX clubs and will be behind closed doors, trying to keep the pace of the game going.
According to the calendar of the Mexican tournament, for date 4, Chivas will go as a visitor to the border city to sustain the commitment against the Bravos de Juárez; while, Atlas will receive América at the Jalisco Stadium.
