Libyan authorities on Sunday released the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Al-Saadi Gadhafi, 48, according to a country’s security source.
The latter, who requested anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that “Al-Saadi Gadhafi and the director of Muammar Gadhafi’s information office, Ahmed Ramadan, have been released from prison.”
Until 9:15 p.m. (GMT), there was no official statement from the Libyan authorities on this matter.
Born in 1973, Al-Saadi is the third son of Muammar Gadhafi.
Following a revolution that overthrew the Gaddafi regime in 2011, Al-Saadi fled to Niger, but was expelled in 2014 to stand trial in Libya for crimes he allegedly committed during his presidency of the Libyan Football Federation.
