In Maharashtra’s Thane district, more than 30 people joined hands to save a leopard cub whose head was trapped in a plastic container. The search and rescue operation took about 48 hours to complete. According to news agency PTI, about one year old leopard cub had put its head inside the container to drink water and was unable to get it out.
A forest department official said on Tuesday, that the cub was seen roaming in trouble in Goregaon area of Badlapur on Sunday night.
Local animal welfare organizations appealed for more information about the leopard after footage of a leopard cub running around with its head stuck in a plastic container went viral. The video was taken by tourists who saw the leopard trying to free itself while passing near Badlapur on Sunday night.

As soon as the leopard footage went viral on a local WhatsApp group, officials from the forest department and the state’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), as well as representatives of the NGO Reskin Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAW), conducted a search to track down the animal. campaign started.
According to the Indian Express report, the leopard cub was found on Tuesday evening near Badlapur village, where it was first sighted.
The rescue team controlled the leopard with a dart. Officials said that when the dart hit the leopard, it trembled so hard that the plastic container came loose.
After spending two days without food or water, the cub was in a critical condition. It was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park Rescue Center for treatment and will be released in the wild when it gets better.
