Each edition saw a significant increase in sales and user participation. In 2016, the event marked a turning point, generating the highest sales day for Amazon up to that point, up 60% from the previous year.
In 2017, the event was expanded to 30 hours rather than the traditional 24, leading to a more than 50% increase in Prime members making purchases compared to the previous year. Amazon continued to expand Prime Day’s global reach, including new countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and India, further strengthening its international presence.
In 2023, global Prime Day sales exceeded $12.9 billionwith over 375 million items purchased in 24 different countries. This event marked the highest sales day in Amazon’s history, with Prime members saving more than $2.5 billion across millions of deals.
The 2024 edition confirmed this growth trend, recording record sales of $14.2 billion, with an increasing number of new Prime members registered in the weeks leading up to the event. Sales by small and medium-sized sellers on the platform have also seen significant growth, contributing to over 200 million items sold.
