The number of victims of the massive landslide in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in northern India rose to 23 on Saturday.
A spokesperson for the security forces in charge of search and rescue operations, Vivek Kumar Pandey, told Anadolu Agency that six bodies were found under the rubble on Saturday, bringing the total number of victims to date to 23.
The landslide occurred on a highway in Kinnaur district, about 210 km from the state capital, Shimla, on Wednesday, following heavy rains. A passenger bus and a number of vehicles were buried under the rubble.
Since then, rescue operations are still underway in the region.
In a similar incident on July 25, at least 9 tourists were killed when heavy stones fell on their vehicle following a landslide in Kinnaur.
Many parts of India are plagued by flooding from monsoon rains, including landslides.
