Enrolment date for Maharashtra govt’s Ladki Bahin Yojana extended till September 30 :The deadline for enrollment for the Ladki Bahin Yojana (Ladli Behna Yojana in Hindi) has been extended again. The Maharashtra government has extended the last date for application to 30 September. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare in the state government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gave this information on Tuesday. She said that in view of the tremendous response received to the scheme, the last date for submission of applications by eligible women has been extended to 30 September.
Earlier, the deadline for registration to avail the benefits of the scheme was fixed as 31 August 2024. Initially, the date for applying under this scheme was fixed as 31 July, but due to the large number of applications received, it was extended till 31 August. In view of the tremendous response received from the people regarding the scheme till this date, the government has again given a chance of one month.

What is Shinde Government’s Ladki Behan Scheme?
On the lines of Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Bahana Yojana, the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra has come up with the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ for women, which is known as Meri Ladli Bahan Yojana in Hindi. Under this scheme, women from economically weaker sections are to be given Rs 1500 every month.
Who will get the benefit
Under this scheme, married, divorced and destitute women between the ages of 21 and 65 will get Rs 1,500 per month whose annual family income is up to Rs 2.5 lakh. Shortly after the announcement of this scheme, the Maharashtra government came up with the Ladka Bhau scheme for young boys. This scheme was launched under the Chief Minister’s Youth Work Training Scheme.

How much will the burden on the government treasury increase by running the scheme
The Eknath Shinde-led government had announced the Mukhyamantri Ladki Behen Yojana in its budget in June-end as a flagship scheme for women’s welfare. It is expected to put a burden of Rs 46,000 crore on the state exchequer annually. Ruling coalition constituents – Bharatiya Janata Party, Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena – are promoting the scheme extensively ahead of the assembly elections in November.
