EA Sports LaLiga continues with Matchday 2 of the competition. Celta and Valencia opened the second round by facing each other at Balaídos, in a match that ended with a victory for Celta (3-1). On Saturday, FC Barcelona beat Athletic in Montjuic (2-1), in one of the great matches of the day. The second round of the championship will end this Sunday, August 25, the day in which Real Madrid thrashed Valladolid (3-0) at the Santiago Bernabéu and Atlético de Madrid will face Girona at the Metropolitano.
The afternoon that the Bernabéu was awaiting Mbappé’s first goal for Real Madrid, after he had scored there twice for PSG, with Ronaldo in the stands, the one who made his debut was Endrick, who had also scored before, but with Brazil. The crowd believed in the Frenchman’s goal until his last run, one on one with the goalkeeper, with a suffocating game finally open, and although he did not succeed, they saw him off on their feet anyway. It had been a hard day, with a Valladolid team that was tough, confident in its endurance, which frustrated Real Madrid for many minutes. So much so that they were only able to break through with a missile from Valverde from a long-range free kick. David Alvarez
Leganes – Las Palmas (2-1)
Leganés beat UD Las Palmas in a match that confirms the good feelings of the team from the Canary Islands at the start of the season. The newly promoted team already has four points after two games, a fairly positive harvest for a team whose main objective this year is to stay up. For its part, UD Las Palmas has only one point after two games, a start that contrasts with the good start of the season that the Canarian team had last season. Juan Cruz and Enric Franquesa scored for the home team. Sandro Ramírez reduced the score at the end for the visitors.
Deportivo Alavés and Real Betis drew 0-0 at Mendizorroza. The home side finished with the feeling of having rescued a point, after having been saved by goalkeeper Antonio Sivera on more than one occasion towards the end, when Luis García Plaza’s team was already playing with one less player due to Sedlar’s expulsion in the 86th minute. It is a point that is not enough for Betis, who are still without a win at the start of the season.
Atlético defeated Girona with two goalless strikes and a counterattack that Griezmann, Llorente and Koke knew how to capitalise on, with the complicity of the Catalan club’s goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. However, Simeone’s men were left owing more football to their fans at the Civitas Metropolitano, after a match in which the Argentine coach did not choose to field Griezmann, Julián Alvarez and Sorloth together.
Barça have secured their second consecutive win at the start of the season. Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, the current top scorer in the competition (3), led the Blaugrana to victory. Oihan Sancet scored a penalty for the red-and-whites.
Getafe – Rayo Vallecano (0-0)
The Madrid duel between Getafe and Rayo Vallecano ended without goals. The blue team was unable to complete a perfect week, after the valuable point obtained in San Mamés in the first round. The Vallecano team was also unable to string together its second consecutive victory after the huge triumph in Anoeta.
The most talented player Imanol had on the bench came on and in his only action of the match he gave Real Sociedad the three points. Take Kubo, who disappeared a week ago against Rayo, watched most of the match against Espanyol from the sidelines. Finally, the Real coach brought him on and it took one spark to decide the match. That’s what star players have. Jon Rivas
Celtic – Valencia (3-1)
Celta achieved their second victory of the season by beating Valencia, which means they move up to the top of the Primera División. The Valencian team took the lead with a goal from Diego López, but Celta reacted quickly. Mingueza equalised after a great pass from Iago Aspas, who scored the second goal after another pass from Mingueza. Just before half-time, Mamardashvili saved a penalty from Aspas. Celta got the third goal with a great shot from Fran Beltrán. Valencia tried, but without luck. The joy overflowed in Balaídos.
Football is like that. A goal from Ayoze in the 95th minute gave Villarreal an undeserved victory. The forward, who came from Betis, had the pleasure of sealing the victory against a much better Sevilla, who deserved the victory in a great second half, where only a great Diego Conde, the Villarreal goalkeeper, prevented the Andalusian victory. Sevilla must improve their defence, although it will hardly lose a match again if they play like they did against Villarreal. They took up to 16 shots at the opponent’s goal. Marcelino García Toral’s team was very effective. They took a completely unexpected victory. Football is like that and that is why, many times, it is incomprehensible. Rafael Pineda
Osasuna – Mallorca (1-0)
Osasuna beat Mallorca by the minimum margin, in what was the return of Jagoba Arrasate to El Sadar, now as coach of the Bermellón. The only goal of the match was scored by Rubén García, who sponsored the first victory of the season for the Navarrese team.
