Citizens who buy and sell votes in elections will be held accountable. This was stated by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov in a post published on the official page of the head of state in social networks on the occasion of the upcoming elections to the Jogorku Kenesh.
According to him, if such facts are revealed, the perpetrators face from one and a half to two and a half years in prison.
“There is such an article in the Criminal Code. Therefore, voters should not sell their votes, candidates should not engage in bribery. If such facts come to light, law enforcement agencies take tough decisive measures. From now on, we will introduce the tradition of fair elections in Kyrgyzstan. Let the previous elections remain only history, ”Japarov said.
