Former Real Madrid basketball and NBA player Kyle Singler has published a video on social media in which he says he fears for his life. The video shows the American in a room where he appears shirtless and his face can barely be seen. “I need to make a statement because I feel like my voice is being silenced. Every day they throw shit in my path. I have been mistreated and abused. “My community is screwed,” says Singler.
The publication has already had supportive responses, for example from his colleague Kevin Love. “I love you Kyle. Contact me when you can. To everyone who has spent time with him, please shower him with all the love and support he needs and deserves. I wouldn’t be who I am today without him. “I am eternally indebted to him.” Also from Philadelphia 76ers player Andre Drummond: “You’re not alone, brother.”
Kyle Singler began his career with the Duke University Blue Devils where he played four years. Subsequently, he was chosen in the 33rd position in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, but finally signed for Lucentum Alicante of the ACB league. At the end of that same year he moved to Real Madrid, with which he finished that season and returned to the United States with the Detroit team, where he played for two and a half years. In 2014 he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team for which he played for three and a half years. In 2018 he returned to Spain and played the last two seasons of his career. First in Obradoiro and then in Tenerife.
