- State President K Surendran will be questioned.
- Police handed over a notice for questioning.
Surendran was issued a notice by the police stating that he should appear at the Thrissur police club at 10 am on Tuesday. It is reported that Surendran will not appear for questioning despite the notice. The BJP had earlier stated that it would not co-operate with the interrogation in the Kodakara robbery case. According to BJP sources, the decision will not be changed.
The robbery took place on April 3, 2021 at around 4.30 am near the Kodakara flyover. According to police, the BJP had brought the money from Karnataka for the Assembly election campaign. The BJP claims that out of the Rs 3.5 crore seized, Rs 3.25 crore belongs to Dharmarajan and Rs 25 lakh to Sunil Naik.
The driver and the secretary had given a statement to the investigation team in connection with the incident, putting Surendran in further crisis in the case. The main accused in the case, Dharmarajan, is known and experienced. I know Dharmarajan. He was handed campaign materials during the Assembly elections. The two had testified that they had been in contact on the phone several times.
