On Wednesday, 32,803 new cases of infection were reported in the entire state. 173 people died within 24 hours. After so many cases of corona in one day, it is feared that the third wave has started in Kerala.
There have been a total of 40.6 lakh cases of corona infection in Kerala. So far 20 thousand 788 people have lost their lives here in this Pandemic. In the whole country, where about 41 thousand new cases are coming every day, it is worrying that more than 30 thousand cases are coming in Kerala alone. According to the Ministry of Health, so far 3 crore 28 lakh 10 thousand 845 cases of corona have been reported in the country. The number of people recovered from Corona is 3 crore 19 lakh 93 thousand 644. At present, 3 lakh 78 thousand 181 cases are active in the whole country.
Thrissur has the highest number of cases in 14 districts
Among the state’s 14 districts, Thrissur reported the highest number of cases at 4,425, followed by Ernakulam (4,324), Kozhikode (3,251), Malappuram (3,099), Kollam (2,663), Thiruvananthapuram (2,579), Palakkad (2,309), Kottayam (2,263). ), Alappuzha (1,975), Kannur (1,657), Pathanamthitta (1,363), Wayanad (1,151) and Idukki (1,130).
Smart Strategic Lockdown Necessary
On the other hand, several media reports quoting the Health Ministry have said that smart strategic lockdown has become necessary in Kerala to overcome the deteriorating situation. This type of lockdown is implemented on the basis of locality and towns. Kerala Health Minister Veena George has blamed the violation of home quarantine instructions for the increasing cases of corona. He has cautioned the people of Kerala against the increasing indoor transmission of corona in homes.
Union Health Minister visited Kerala
Significantly, amidst the deteriorating situation in Kerala, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had visited the state on August 16. He also announced a special package of Rs 267.35 crore to strengthen the health infrastructure of Kerala. So far 3 crore 15 lakh 52 thousand 681 samples have been tested for Covid in Kerala.
