Kerala buys vaccine for Rs 29 crore; The government received Rs 817 crore through the challenge


  • The price of 8,84,290 doses of wax has been paid so far

  • 13,42,540 doses of the vaccine were procured directly by the government

Kochi: The government has received Rs 817 crore to the Chief Minister’s relief fund through the vaccine challenge in the state. Finance Minister KN Balagopal made this clear in response to non-starred questions raised by KJ Maxi MLA in the Assembly.

The state government has spent Rs 29.29 crore to buy the vaccine directly from companies. As on July 30, the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund received Rs 817.50 crore through the vaccine challenge.

Rs 29,29,97,250 was used to buy the vaccine directly from the companies. The government directly procured 13,42,540 doses of the vaccine. Of that, 8,84,290 doses of wax have been priced so far.

The Government had sanctioned `324 crore to the Kerala Medical Services Corporation for procurement of defense equipment for Covid prevention activities. An amount of `318.2747 crore was utilized for procurement of PPE kits, test kits and vaccines during the current financial year.
