Delhi Assembly Election 2025: Aam Aadmi Party President Arvind Kejriwal filed his nomination from New Delhi seat on Wednesday. Kejriwal is contesting the assembly elections to be held on February 5 against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Pravesh Verma and Congress leader Sandeep Dixit. Pravesh Verma filed his nomination papers today itself.Former Chief Minister Kejriwal has won this seat in the 2013, 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said that he has filed his nomination from New Delhi seat today. He said that the love and blessings given by the people of Delhi in the last 10 years have given me the strength and inspiration to work with full dedication and service. The former Chief Minister of Delhi expressed confidence that the people of Delhi will choose the politics of work this time too.

After filing the nomination, Kejriwal said, “The love and blessings given by the people of Delhi in the last 10 years inspire me to work with full dedication and spirit of service. I have full faith that this time too the people of Delhi will support the politics of work.” Will choose.”New Delhi seat is considered one of the most important seats among the 70 assembly seats of the national capital.
In 1993, Kirti Azad won from New Delhi on a BJP ticket. Azad is now a TMC MP. Sheila Dikshit had won this seat as a Congress candidate in 1998, 2003 and 2008.Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dikshit by more than 25,000 votes in 2013. She defeated BJP’s Nupur Sharma by over 31,000 votes in 2015.
In the last assembly elections in 2020, Kejriwal defeated BJP’s Sunil Yadav by over 21,000 votes. Congress candidate Ramesh Subharwal got only 3,220 votes from the New Delhi seat in the 2020 assembly elections.Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be held on 5 February. The results will be declared on 8 February.
