Kazakhstan and Afghanistan are interested in the restoration of trade


A Kazakhstani delegation headed by the special presidential envoy for international cooperation Yerzhan Kazykhan paid a working visit to the city of Kabul, the press service of Akorda reported.

“The special representative of the President of Kazakhstan held meetings with representatives of the current administration of Afghanistan, Abdul Ghani Baradar and Amir Khan Muttaki. Issues of Kazakhstan’s provision of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and restoration of trade and economic ties were discussed, ”the message says.

The head of the Kazakh delegation noted that by order of President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, humanitarian aid in the form of 5,000 tons of flour was delivered to Afghanistan. He also conveyed a proposal from Kazakhstan to provide the Afghan side with the domestic vaccine QazVac.

Kazykhan informed about the steps taken by Kazakhstan together with UN agencies to further expand humanitarian supplies to the people of Afghanistan.

The Afghan side expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided and stressed the significant contribution of Kazakhstan to international efforts to rebuild Afghanistan.

“During the meetings, mutual interest was expressed in restoring traditional trade and economic ties and continuing educational programs in Kazakhstan for Afghan students. Representatives of the current administration of Afghanistan also received with interest the proposal to supply the Kazakhstani vaccine, ”the press service notes.

Kazykhan also met with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative, Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons. The issues of expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN in overcoming the humanitarian and food crisis in this country were considered.
