Thrissur: Another action in connection with Karuvannur bank fraud. It is reported that MC Ajith has been removed from the post of Co-operative Bank Administrator and replaced by a three-member committee. The order states that the move is to make the governance of the bank more efficient.

The new measures come as opposition parties intensify protests against the delay in the arrest of the accused in the case. The Congress and the BJP allege that the Crime Branch is teaching the statement of the accused in custody. However, the CPM said that the case should be arrested and the party would not protect the accused. CPM sources said the allegations against the case were absurd.

The Crime Branch said it was examining the bank’s records to find out more about the scam and would only make an arrest after that. Six days ago, the probe team took into custody four accused in the case.

The accused arrested from the flat in Ayyanthol, Thrissur were released wearing PPE kits. The locals informed the crime branch about their whereabouts. According to locals, the probe team had returned home with the accused in custody, but the Crime Branch said no one was in custody. But opposition parties have accused the CPM of trying to sabotage the case. The Congress and the BJP allege that the case is being sabotaged by an inspector from the Crime Branch.
