Many railway personnel and laborers were buried under the debris after the linter of a two-storey building under construction under Amrit Bharat Scheme collapsed at the railway station in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Six injured laborers were pulled out from the debris by immediately starting the rescue operation. After the accident, there was a stampede among the passengers present at the station. Officials arrived at the spot and started investigation and rescue operations. Kannauj District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla said that this is a serious accident.
The priority is to get all the workers out safely. He said that strict action will be taken against the culprits of the accident. The District Magistrate said that teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also engaged in relief work. So far, six laborers have been rescued safely, while about twenty laborers are still trapped under the debris. The injured have been sent to the nearest district hospital and Halat Hospital in Kanpur. Relief and rescue operations are going on.
