Gupteshwar Pandey, who was seeking Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) before his scheduled retirement from the former Bihar Director General of Police (DGP), was speculating that he could be contested from Buxar.
Buxar is the ancestral district of Pandey. After joining VRS, he joined the Janata Dal United (JDU). The BJP released its second list of candidates for the election. The names of only 2 candidates have been announced in this.
The party has nominated Parshuram Chaturvedi from Buxar assembly constituency and Deepak Sharma from Arwal. In the last election from Buxar Assembly seat, BJP had nominated young leader Pradeep Dubey as its candidate. He had to face defeat by over 30 thousand votes at the hands of Munna Tiwari of Congress.
