The Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step) has won this Tuesday the fourth stage of the Vuelta 2021, disputed between El Burgo de Osma and Molina de Aragón over 163.9 kilometers, in a powerful sprint plunging upwards with which he celebrated his return to the Vuelta.
Jakobsen, who suffered a very serious accident in which he feared for his life a year ago in Poland, is back in the elite after winning two stages in the Tour of Wallonia and achieving his first stage in a ‘big’ on Tuesday after his return to the platoon. It is his third victory in the Vuelta.
It was an explosive finish, in which the climb was not such as to prevent the purest sprinters from fighting for the final triumph, with Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ) second and Magnus Cort (EF) third. Inside the safety zone, the leader, Rein Taaramäe (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert) fell, who was able to get back on the bike and enter the finish line.
