Recent research commissioned by Honor, on the occasion of the launch of the new Honor Magic V3, highlighted how over half of Italian professionals dream of being able to take a single technological device with them to work. The study created to investigate the correlation between the number of technological devices that professionals carry with them every day and the repercussions they can have on their physical health, reveals that 6 out of 10 Italians go to the office 5 times a week, and 28% said they carry 3 to 4 technological devices with them every day.
“We’ve coined a term to describe the impact technology can have on our posture: tech torsion. As the number of working days in the office increases, workers are forced to carry their personal belongings with them more than they are used to.“, said Avikar Jolly, CMO of Honor Europe. “This can have an impact on our bodies, although we often don’t realize it. Honor Magic V3 not only has a great design, but its all-in-one functionality can help reduce potential long-term health effects on our customers from carrying excess technology“.
Carrying numerous devices leads to worry about one’s physical health: in fact, 29% of those interviewed complain of localized pain, especially on the shoulders, while 18% feel a general sense of exhaustion. Thanks to the collaboration with Rebekah Jade Lawrence, Award-winning Doctor and Yoga Teacher from Londonthe study commissioned by Honor also aims to provide a practical solution to alleviate the discomfort caused by the transport of technological devices.
“Musculoskeletal disorders are among the most common reasons people see their doctor“, commented Rebekah Jade Lawrence. “In fact, the combination of sedentary habits and stress caused by inadequate ergonomics can lead to chronic physical discomfort. The data reflects how the poor ergonomics of the bags, combined with the weight of the devices, can lead to significant inconveniences. It is very important to identify ergonomic solutions, such as a 3-in-1 device, capable of being used as a smartphone, tablet or laptop.“.
Dr. Lawrence has drawn up a series of practical tips to improve the daily lives of those who inevitably have to travel to work: minimize the contents of your bag and consider the use of multifunction devices such as the Honor Magic V3, to replace the weight of multiple devices. Likewise, it is preferable to use ergonomic backpacks with wide, padded straps or wheels, reducing the use of shoulder bags with a single strap and tote bags that are too large.
Furthermore, if you use a single shoulder bag, it is advisable to change sides regularly to balance the weight and make sure that the straps are adjusted to keep the bag close to the body and at the appropriate height. Finally, take breaks especially during long journeys to relieve muscle tension.
The research conducted at European level on a sample of 8000 professionals involved a sample of 1000 Italian professionals.
