Sayeret Matkal, Israel’s most elite special commando unit, is once again preparing for a very dangerous mission. According to the report of The Daily Telegraph, a big plan is being made to free hundreds of Israeli people held hostage in Gaza Strip. Sayeret Matkal is an elite commando unit of the Israel Defense Forces, which was established in 1957. It is basically a field intelligence gathering unit which conducts deep reconnaissance of the enemy.

Sayret Matkal has also been entrusted by the government with the work of anti-terrorism and freeing hostages. Sayret Matkal was created on the lines of Britain’s Special Air Service or SAS. Which is a special unit of the British Army, which is famous worldwide for its courageous operations during the first Gulf War in 1990-91 and the rescue of hostages from the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980.
Sayret Matkal’s operations have been very secret
Most of Sayret Matkal’s work has not been made public and its activities are considered highly secret. In the Yom Kippur War, Sayeret Matkal fought primarily in Sinai and Hermon. During the Second Lebanon War, the unit carried out several operations in Lebanon.
Hamas has threatened Israel
