An Israeli shipping company announced on Friday that it suspected an attack on one of its ships in the Indian Ocean while en route to the United Arab Emirates from Tanzania.

The Israel Broadcasting Company reported on statements by “Zodiac Maritime Ltd”, owned by Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer, in which it “suspected an attempted attack on the oil tanker Mercer Street, while traveling between Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates “.

And the Israeli Company added, “The Japanese-flagged vessel is operated by the company owned by businessman Eyal Ofer.”

Earlier today on Friday, Israeli media reported statements by the UK Defense Ministry which claimed that an Israeli ship had been attacked off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman, without providing further details.

There have been many similar incidents in recent months, according to Israeli media which blamed the events on the context of conflict between Israel and Iran.
