G is a 24 hour digital bureau: US President Joe Biden on Sunday warned Israel against occupying the Gaza Strip. He said annexing Gaza would be a ‘huge mistake’ for Israel, despite Hamas terror attacks killing thousands and injuring scores. Biden said this after news that Israel is preparing to attack Gaza.
In an interview with CBS News, Joe Biden said that the United States is working to eliminate food, water and gas shortages to protect ordinary citizens. He also emphasized that the extremist elements of Hamas do not represent all Palestinians.

He added, “But attacking and flushing out the extremists” is a “necessary task”. But there needs to be a Palestinian Authority. There must be a path to a Palestinian state’.

A three-hour deadline issued by the Israeli military for residents of northern Gaza to leave the area has expired. This means Israeli troops can now launch a ground attack at any moment.
Israeli Democratic Forces (IDF) officials said they were awaiting a signal from the political leadership to enter the northern part of the besieged Gaza Strip. They are preparing to ‘wipe out’ the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Northern Gaza has about 11 million inhabitants. This is almost half of Gaza’s total population of 2.3 million. The IDF asked them to withdraw to the southern part of the region between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm local time.
The IDF had previously warned that once the deadline passed it would ‘implement an extensive offensive operative plan’ in the region to attack Hamas.

Military spokesmen Lt. Richard Hecht and Daniel Hagary said at a press briefing that 10,000 ground troops would attack, along with air and naval forces. Rini also said it would be launched ‘after a political decision’.
There is also the possibility of a multi-pronged war, as rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanon continue. The attack is believed to have been carried out by Iran-backed Hezbollah.
The IDF said in a statement, ‘After sirens blared in northern Israel, nine rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory’. The IDF said in a statement that the rockets were ‘hitting back’ at the site from which they were fired.
