Hagari said the army has evacuated 15 out of 24 towns located on the border and will continue to evacuate other towns till Monday. He also said that since the fighting started on Saturday morning, about 4400 rockets have been fired towards Israel.
According to the Times of Israel report, Hagari said that soldiers killed three terrorists in Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. One terrorist was killed in Beri, five in Holit and Sufa and four in Alumim.
“It’s possible there are still militants in the area,” Hagari said, but he said there was no fighting going on in any town.
Some of the militants have been in Israel since the initial attack on Saturday, while others crossed the border in the past two days. Hagari said that the barriers on the Gaza border will be physically secured by tanks with the help of combat helicopters and drones.
In another development, the Israeli Army has also deployed troops against suspected infiltration from Lebanon. “Reports were received regarding the infiltration of several suspects into Israeli territory from Lebanese territory. IDF troops are deployed in the area,” Reuters quoted the Israeli military as saying.
The IDF said in a post on Twitter that the IDF Homefront Command has also instructed Israeli citizens in cities near the Lebanese border to stay in their homes.
Meanwhile, IDF airstrikes continue. The army said it was targeting targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist group. Several strikes were carried out overnight in an effort to “destroy the capabilities of the Hamas terrorist group”, two days after the terrorist group carried out a massacre on an unprecedented scale in Israel. At least 700 civilians and security personnel were killed in the Hamas attack. According to the Times of Israel report, it was the deadliest day in the country’s history.
According to the new update, more than 800 people have been killed and more than 2400 have been injured, many of whom are in critical condition.
In a major development on Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said he has ordered a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip. Gallant said, “I have ordered a complete siege of the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed.” “We are humans fighting animals and we are acting accordingly,” he said.
