Israel closes Ibrahim mosque for Muslims

Israel has closed the entrance to the Ibrahim Mosque in the West Bank city of Al-Khalil to Muslims in connection with Jewish holidays.

The director of the mosque, Sheikh Khifza Abu Suneyne, told Anadolu agency that the shrine will be closed to Muslims until the night of 13 September.

According to him, the Israeli authorities will not allow access to the mosque and its employees and the staff of the Palestinian ministry of waqfs.

The Israeli authorities annually at various times close the entrance to the mosque for Muslims because of the Jewish holidays, which last from 6 to 27 September.

The Ibrahim Mosque is the fourth most important shrine for Muslims after the Mosque al-Haram, Masjid al-Nabawi and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
