Followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) around the world will come together on December 1 to pray and chant for the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on Hindus.
ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharaman Das wrote while posting on X. “On Sunday, December 1, millions of ISKCON devotees from more than 150 countries and many cities and towns will unite to pray and chant for the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh. We encourage you to join your local ISKCON temple or congregation.”
ISKCON issued this appeal in response to widespread protests in Bangladesh following the arrest of former ISKCON member Jinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari on treason charges. On Tuesday he was refused bail.
Protests, mainly organized by the Hindu community, were seen in several cities of Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Chattogram.
On October 30, a case of treason was registered against 19 people including Chinmay Krishna Das at Kotwali police station in Chattogram. He was accused of insulting the national flag of Bangladesh during a Hindu rally in New Market area of Chattogram.
