Iran has denied accusations against an Israeli tanker in the Indian Ocean.
Earlier, British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab accused Iran of attacking the tanker Mercer Street, heading from Tanzania to the UAE.
According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzadeh, the statements of the United States and Great Britain containing criticism of Iran are contradictory, they do not provide any evidence of Tehran’s involvement in the incident.
“Countries that provide tacit support for attacks on Iranian ships in the Red Sea and international waters are making fictitious accusations against Iran with clear political bias. If they have evidence of Iran’s involvement in the incident, they should have been provided, ”Khatibzade said.
A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Tehran considers the presence of foreign forces in the Persian Gulf as a factor violating the stability and security of the region.
“Iran will not hesitate a second when it comes to national security and protection of interests. We will give a resolute and strong rebuff to any possible adventure, ”the diplomat emphasized.
