INDvNZ: World Test champion could not last even an hour, New Zealand surrendered in 12 overs

World Test champion New Zealand finally succumbed to India. India’s victory in the Mumbai Test was decided on the very second day itself. It was to be seen how long New Zealand could avoid this defeat. When the fourth day’s play started, New Zealand’s score was 140 runs for five wickets. But within the next 45 minutes, the entire Kiwi team knelt. India hit the ground with a huge margin of 372 runs. This is also his biggest win in terms of runs.

Last five wickets fell in 12 overs
India won the two-match series 1-0 by taking out New Zealand’s remaining five wickets in the first hour on Monday morning on the fourth day with brilliant bowling from Jayant Yadav. Just 43 minutes after the start of the day’s play, India, chasing a tough target of 540 runs, bowled out New Zealand for 167 runs in 56.3 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin (4 for 34) ended New Zealand’s innings with Henry Nicholls catching Wriddhiman Saha for his 300th Test wicket in India. This is India’s biggest win in terms of runs on home soil. The previous record was 337 runs which he made against South Africa in Delhi in 2015.

However, New Zealand will remember this match for the historic feat of Ajaz Patel of 10 wickets in the innings. Interestingly, Patel bowled 73.5 overs in both the innings for New Zealand while his team could only bat for 84.4 overs in both the innings.
