The Mumbai Police has intensified the investigation in the case of pornographic comments made on parents in the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The cyber cell had informed that an FIR has been registered against 30-40 people in this case. According to the latest update, an FIR has been lodged against all the judges involved in all the six episodes released on the show’s ‘Member only’ YouTube channel.
In this case, summons have been issued to all 30-40 accused including comedians Bharti Singh, Urfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Deepak Kalal, Rapper Speed, Harsh Limbachia. Apart from this, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija has recorded his statement to the police on Wednesday. Earlier, on Tuesday, YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani also made his statement.
Ashish Chanchalani and Apoorva Makhija in their statement to the police made it clear that ‘India’s Got Latent’ is not a scripted show. He informed that the judges are allowed to openly give opinion and the show’s content is encouraged to post on social media. However, the judges are not paid for this. The show needs to be purchased as an audience to join the show, and the earnings from the same ticket sales are given to the winner.
It is being told that in the sixth episode of the show, YouTuber Ranveer Allabadia made objectionable remarks about parents. In this episode, the host of the show was present as Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchalani and Jaspreet Singh as judges.
The first FIR in the case was registered in Assam, after which a team of Assam Police has reached Mumbai. On Tuesday, the police sent summons to the house in Versova, Ranveer Allabadia. It is expected that he may record his statement at Khar police station on Wednesday evening or Thursday.
Raina, the host of the show in this controversy, is also accused, but he is currently abroad. His lawyer has informed the Mumbai Police that he will return to India on 17 March. The lawyer has also handed over the travel ticket and schedule of Raina to the police. The police are waiting for them to return, as they have the untouched footage of the show, which will be confiscated for investigation.
Taking the matter seriously, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued summons to Ranveer Allabadia, Time Raina and others. The Commission has instructed him to appear on 17 February.
This dispute has also reached Parliament. Several MPs, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, have demanded action in the matter from the IT Parliamentary Committee. Also, an appeal has been made to issue strict guidelines for such shows.
The Khar police have approached all the accused involved in the case and others associated with the show. The police is also contacting ‘Bookmocha’ so that the list of spectators included in the show can be achieved. The episode was shot on 14 November and released on YouTube on 8 January.
Now everyone’s eyes are on the action taken in this matter.
