India Covid Updates: 2.64 lakh new cases reported in India, Omicron patients increased to 5753

In the last 24 hours, 2,64,202 new cases of corona (Covid-19) were reported in the country, while the good thing is that 1,09,345 people have recovered and gone home in a day. Talking about active cases, this number has reached 12,72,073. On the other hand, if we talk about the daily positivity rate, then it has reached 14.78 percent. The new cases released on Friday is the highest in 239 days. With the arrival of these new cases, the number of infected has increased to 3,65,82,129. This information was obtained from the data released by the Union Ministry of Health (MoHFW) on Friday.

Omicron cases reached near 6 thousand
There has been an increase of 4.83 percent in the cases of Omicron variant in the country since Thursday. Talking about Omicron cases, so far 5,753 patients have been infected with this new variant. According to the data released by the Ministry of Health till 8 am, the number of active patients has increased to 12,72,073 which is the highest in 220 days. At the same time, the death toll has increased to 4,85,350 due to the death of 315 patients due to infection.

recovery rate down
The ministry said that the number of active cases is 3.48 percent of the total infected, while the recovery rate from Covid-19 at the national level has come down to 95.20 percent. On May 19, there were 2,76,110 cases of infection in 24 hours. The number of patients under treatment has increased by 1,54,542 in the last 24 hours. According to the Health Ministry, the daily infection rate was recorded at 14.78 percent while the weekly infection rate is 11.83 percent.

The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November. On 19 December 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year, on May 4, the number of infected had crossed 20 million and on June 23, 2021, it crossed 30 million.
