Our national flag, called the Tricolour, was designed by freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya. He was a resident of Machilipatnam, which is now in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier our national flag was made only from Khadi, but now the government has changed the rules and has allowed making the flag from polyester cloth as well, so that sufficient number of flags can be made available to celebrate 75 years of independence.
Our national motto is “Satyameva Jayate”. This Sanskrit motto means that truth always wins.
