The third Test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia ended in a draw today due to rain. Today was the last day of the third Test match at Brisbane Gabba. The match started due to rain, the play could not be played properly on the first two days and on the last day too, the play was stopped due to bad light and rain. After this, with the consent of both the captains, it was decided to draw the match.
Talking about the match, India forced Australia to bat by saving the follow-on in the match. Australia declared its second innings at 89/7, due to which a target of 275 runs was set for India. India had to complete this target in about 54 overs. Openers KL Rahul and Jaiswal came on the field to bat in the second innings for India. But rain did not allow the match to take place. When the match stopped, Yashasvi Jaiswal was present at the crease after scoring 4 runs and KL Rahul had scored 4 runs.
The third Test is being played between India and Australia at Gabba. Batting first, Australia set a target of 445 runs for India. After which India was in danger. India had lost 4 wickets for 51 runs in its first innings. India took the field on the fourth day of the match relying on KL Rahul and captain Rohit Sharma. But captain Rohit also could not stand against Australia’s bowling and lost his wicket after scoring just 10 runs. India had lost 5 wickets for 74 runs, after which India just had to save the follow-on.
Saving the follow-on after 74 runs was a task in itself. But KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Reddy, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah played a big role in saving India. Opener KL Rahul played a brilliant inning of 84 runs for India. Jadeja supported him well and scored an important 77 runs for the team. There was a partnership of 67 runs between these two. India had scored 194 runs after losing 7 wickets at one time. Within no time, India lost its 9 wickets and India’s score reached 213 runs.
At this stage of the game, India needed 33 runs to follow on and Australia needed only one wicket. India’s eyes were fixed on Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. And then the brave pair of both kept India’s hopes alive and till the end of the day, both the batsmen saved the team from follow-on.
