Increasing the prices of daily necessities is a challenge to the people: VD Satheesan

  • Rising prices are a challenge to the people
  • Supplyco is also looting
  • Such a position is unacceptable

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the Supplyco move to increase the prices of daily necessities is a challenge to the public. The price of rice, which was revised to Rs 1 a liter this month, has been hiked again in 11 days. He said Supplyco was also robbing people who were suffering from inflation in the public market.

The government argues that the increase is only commensurate with inflation in the general market. It is unacceptable for a government that is obliged to intervene in the market to control inflation.

The government is constantly exploiting the people who are financially and mentally devastated by Pandemics, floods and natural disasters through various means. Inflation in the general market could have been contained to some extent if the extra fuel tax had been waived.

The government, which focuses only on looting public funds and backdoor appointments, is pretending not to see the vital problems of the people. Subsequent referendums should not be seen as a license to carry out any anti-people activities. VD Satheesan said that the UDF and the Congress will organize a strong agitation against inflation.
