The battalion commander, US Marine Corps Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, who was fired after criticizing the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan, will face trial.
Lawyer Tim Parlator said that his client admits responsibility for his actions in a military tribunal, which is to begin on Thursday at the Marine Corps base in Camp Lejeune (North Carolina, USA).
According to the lawyer, after Sheller pleads guilty, the hearing will continue for two more days.
In a video released on August 26, Scheller said military leaders should be held accountable for withdrawing from Afghanistan after 13 US troops were killed in Kabul.
Sheller was later removed from command of the Forward Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Geiger, one of the facilities at Camp Lejeune.
