In northern Iraq, 12 policemen become victims of DEASH

In the province of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, 12 policemen have become victims of militants of the DEASH terrorist organization.

This was announced on Sunday by the press service of the Kirkuk Police Department.

The terrorists launched an armed attack on the Iraqi Federal Police observation post in the Dakuk area, killing two police officers.

Military vehicles were sent to the scene as reinforcements. The militants detonated explosive devices placed along the route of the convoy – 10 police officers were killed.

A large-scale anti-terrorist operation has been launched in the area of the DEASH attack.

The terrorist organization DEASH in June 2014 captured the provinces of Mosul, Salahaddin and Anbar in Iraq, as well as parts of the provinces of Diyala and Kirkuk.

In subsequent years, the Iraqi security forces, with the support of the International Coalition to Combat DEASH, succeeded in clearing the aforementioned provinces of terrorists.

The victory over DEASH was announced on December 9, 2017 by former Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Ibadi.

However, despite the incident of four years, terrorists are still active in the provinces of Kirkuk, Diyala, Mosul, Salahaddin and Anbar.
