IAS officer Arunish Chawla made the new Revenue Secretary
Senior IAS officer Arunish Chawla has been appointed as the new Revenue Secretary in the Finance Ministry. Presently he is working as Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
According to the notification issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Wednesday, Chawla will also hold the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Culture, till his permanent appointment.
Chawla, a 1992 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, has taken over as Revenue Secretary after Sanjay Malhotra was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In the interim, Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, was holding the additional responsibility of the Revenue Department, but now Chawla will officially take over the role.
