Kochi: The Crime Branch has recorded the statement of former DGP Loknath Behra in connection with the visit of the fake museum of archaeologist Monson Maungkal. Behra reportedly came to visit Monson’s museum after seeing it on social media. The Crime Branch has referred the progress of the case to the High Court.

Apart from Loknath Behra, police have also recorded the statement of IG G Lakshmana, who is suspected to have links with Monson. It was reported that Monson introduced the former DGP to Anitha Pulla, an expatriate Malayalee. According to reports quoting Monson’s staff, Behra came to the museum in Kaloor at Anita’s invitation. Asianet News reported that Behra said he was visiting the museum after learning about it through social media.

Behra told investigators that he was suspicious when he saw the museum and that he had instructed an intelligence investigation against Monson within five days of the visit. Behra explained that he had not been invited to the museum.

It was alleged that Loknath Behra had instructed the police to place a book book in front of Monson’s house. Police ADGP S Sreejith Behra testified to confirm the allegations. IG G Lakshmana is facing charges of sabotaging a financial fraud case against Monnason. Earlier, the court had asked the police to provide security to the swindler’s house. The court will reconsider the public interest litigation tomorrow, asking the CBI to investigate the case involving senior police officials.
