On October 4, the Department of Sports and Physical Training issued a decision to dismiss the coach of the Vietnamese youth table tennis team, including head coach Bui Xuan Ha, because of his involvement in the scandal over the athletes’ diets. A few days ago, young players complained of hunger when the quality of the meal was not guaranteed.
Coach Bui Xuan Ha has been suspended from his position. The Department of Sports and Physical Training assigned Mr. Vu Van Trung (Hanoi) to hold the position of head coach and Mr. Vu Dinh Tuan (Hanoi National Sports Training Center) to hold the position of coach of the national youth table tennis team, from October 6 to December 31, 2023. The training location is Hanoi National Sports Training Center, not My Dinh National Sports Complex anymore.
The competent authority has asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to explain more clearly the issue that is of particular concern to the media and social networks, surrounding food rations, salaries, and other payments that team athletes receive. National youth table tennis must contribute. The sports industry needs to respond quickly and clearly about the results of the verification of the case as well as how to resolve it. Which individuals and groups are responsible for this incident?
In another development, recently, the People’s Court of Nam Tu Liem District (Hanoi) opened the third trial, hearing a civil dispute related to My Dinh National Sports Complex (complex). . This unit was sued by Hai Yen Company (the partner who signed a contract in 2011 to rent space at the complex) for violating the contract.
During the contract implementation process, in 2017, the complex’s leader directed the technical department to cut off the partner’s electricity and water without notice. By 2019, the complex unilaterally terminated the contract, reclaiming the site to serve the construction of a Formula 1 racing track (the tournament was later canceled in Vietnam). The complex once again cut off power, but it was completely cut off on the land area that Hai Yen Company rented. The restaurant owned by this company suffered heavy material damage. Therefore, the company sued and will be compensated nearly 12 billion VND, according to the court verdict.
In response to the above information, the competent authority requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to notify the status of implementation of the inspection conclusions related to My Dinh National Sports Complex. The sports industry will also have to report solutions and directions to overcome difficulties surrounding complex issues.
