Smartphone maker Honor and tech giant Tencent have signed a long-term collaboration agreement involving several areas, including artificial intelligence and the development of cloud services. The announcement, released by Tencent via the Chinese social platform Weixin, underlines its desire to integrate Honor’s skills in terminal development, artificial intelligence and “ecosystem construction” with Tencent’s capabilities in the cloud and content production. The strategic partnership aims to “complement their respective advantages and grow together”, taking advantage of an already consolidated synergy. Tencent, in fact, provides Honor with various services, including tools for optimizing applications and expanding data capacity in response to peaks in demand.
A concrete example of collaboration is represented by an AI-based coding assistant, designed to support developers in the code creation and debugging phases. According to Tencent, more than 8,000 Honor software engineers have already used this tool, resulting in an increase in the code generation rate and its adoption rate during the development process. The agreement provides for further development of this tool and other innovative solutions, with the aim of offering greater benefits to developers and strengthening the technological ecosystem of both companies.
