Molisana, a well-known Italian producer of high quality pasta and Hitachi Vantara, a giant in the field of data storage and IT infrastructures, with an official note, have announced a significant collaboration which led to the implementation of the Hitachi Vantara Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) Block solution. This initiative represents a qualitative leap for the company, which aims to optimize its data infrastructure and support global business expansion.
Based in Campobasso, La Molisana is a historic brand in the food sector, founded in 1912 and with a presence in over 100 countries. With an ambitious growth plan to expand into emerging markets in Europe, Asia and the Americas, the company needed a storage solution that delivered high performance and advanced security. The choice fell on Hitachi Vantara and the Italian technology supplier EOSYS, who together transformed La Molisana’s data infrastructure.
Maurizio Maio, CIO of La Molisana, declared: “The Hitachi VSP One system integrated easily with our existing infrastructure and provided the security solutions needed, while ensuring high performance and a reduction in energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Hitachi Vantara’s ability to quickly respond to our growth needs and the long-term partnership underlying the proposal certainly contributed to convincing us that we were making the right choice..”
The transition to Hitachi VSP One Block has guaranteed La Molisana important advantages, including:
• Increase in performance thanks to a significant increase in data access and processing speed, with a significant impact on production and logistics processes.
• Enhanced security with protection features against ransomware and native integration with backup solutions, ensuring constant data protection and easy recovery when necessary, with a 100% Data Availability Guarantee.
• Reduction of storage costs through data deduplication and compression with an Effective Capacity Guarantee.
• Scalabilitywhich allows your business to grow seamlessly by easily adding storage capacity without compromising operations.
• Sustainabilityoptimizing rack space while reducing power consumption and cooling costs. Virtual Storage Platform One Block products are ENERGY STAR certified and Hitachi Vantara’s unique “automated switching” process reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 30-40%.
“With our technology, La Molisana will be able to respond quickly to market challenges, guaranteeing high performance, safety and sustainability”, declared Salvatore Turchetti, Country Manager of Hitachi Vantara Italy. “Our VSP One platform is a clear example of how our solutions not only improve operational efficiency, but also contribute to achieving their environmental goals.”
Hitachi VSP One Block, equipped with NVMe flash drives, allows La Molisana to handle larger data volumes with high speed and efficiency. The implementation included the integration of Veeam backup and Hitachi’s immutable snapshot functionality, providing La Molisana with optimized data protection and business continuity.
Paolo Pezzoni, CEO of EOSYS, said: “Collaboration with the Hitachi Vantara team was critical to the success of this project. We worked in close synergy with the Hitachi Vantara technical and commercial teams from the early stages to develop a tailor-made solution for La Molisana. Our field experience and understanding of the operational dynamics of the pasta factory, combined with the technological expertise of Hitachi Vantara, have allowed us to design an efficient, reliable and safe infrastructure.”
