Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the state. Yellow alert has been declared in ten districts today. The possibility of isolated heavy rains is forecast in these districts.

Yellow Alert

  • 30-08-2021: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod

Yellow alert has been declared in the following districts. Heavy rainfall is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

According to a warning issued at 4 pm on Monday, isolated showers are likely in Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours. The Central Meteorological Department said.

Fisherman caution

On 30-08-2021, the Central Meteorological Department said that fishing is not allowed off the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

30-08-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph along the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast. Fishermen are not allowed to go to sea for any reason.

Special caution

30-08-2021 & 31-08-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph and in some places up to 60 kmph in the southwestern and central western Arabian Sea. It has been warned not to go fishing in these areas on the above days.
