Heavy rains will continue in the state; Orange alert in nine districts today and tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains will continue in the state. Orange and yellow alerts were declared in various districts. The Orange Alert is in place in nine districts today and tomorrow. It has been warned not to go fishing off the coast of Kerala.

Orange alert

  • 12-10-2021: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
  • 13-10-2021: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
  • 14-10-2021: Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad
  • 15-10-2021: Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad

The Central Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has forecast 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall in 24 hours.

Yellow Alert

  • 12-10-2021: Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam
  • 13-10-2021: Alappuzha, Kottayam
  • 14-10-2021: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod
  • 15-10-2021: Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod
  • 16-10-2021: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rains in the districts. Heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least three places in the last few days.

Fisherman caution

The Central Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing off the coast of Kerala and Lakshadweep from 12-10-2021 to 14-10-2021.

12-10-2021 to 13-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast.
14-10-2021: Winds are likely to blow along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts at speeds of 45 to 55 kmph.

15-10-2021 to 16-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph along the Lakshadweep coast.

Special caution

12-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph in the south-eastern Bay of Bengal.
13-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph in the south-eastern Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
14-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph along the coast of Maldives, Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari.
15-10-2021: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast winds of 45 to 55 kmph along the southeastern Arabian Sea, Maldives, southwestern Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari. Fishing is not allowed in these areas these days.
