According to CSK sources, Dhoni had informed Kashi Vishwanath on the morning of announcing his resignation. Dhoni also expressed interest in talking to CSK owner N Srinivasan. After this, the team meets and Dhoni announces his decision.

Dhoni has led CSK in 204 matches in the IPL. He won 121 matches. He lost by 84 runs. In the meantime, he won four titles. The crowning achievements were in the 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 seasons. Has reached the IPL final 9 times. He has twice won the Champions League T20.
