High-caste people have held a meeting on Sunday in support of the gang-rape accused along with a 19-year-old girl in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to NDTV ‘s report, a crowd of 500 people gathered in support of the accused at the house of a BJP leader Rajvir Singh Pahalwan in Hathras on Sunday morning. It also included the family members of one of the accused in the case.
During the protest, it was alleged that the four youths have been arrested by making false allegations. They must get justice.
Joint Magistrate Prem Prakash Meena said in an interaction with NDTV that he was not aware of this meeting.
He said, ‘There is no pressure on the victim’s family. Politicians can meet him in a group of five people.
One of those who organized the meeting said, ‘We had informed the police about this meeting. An FIR should be lodged against the family of the woman (victim). The accused in the case have been wrongly targeted.
In an alleged video of BJP leader Rajveer Singh Pehalwan, who appeared on Twitter in connection with the meeting, he is seen saying, “These people have come here to welcome the CBI inquiry and narco test orders given in the case.” We have brought this matter to the state government that there is a demand from the people that there should be a CBI and narco investigation so that the truth is revealed.
He further says, ‘All the channels are promoting lies so far. No such incident took place, no rape took place. In the first FIR, there was only one accused, then four accused came. He broke his neck, he did it. All these things are false. Now CBI will investigate this.
According to the news website Quint, Rajvir Singh Pehalwan said, ‘Rape has not happened. Why did the victim’s family initially name only one person (accused) and then three more names were included (in the FIR)? The girl’s strangulation and other allegations are false. Now CBI will investigate in a proper way. We have full faith in him.
He also said that members of all communities attended this meeting, which was held in his personal place, there was no need to seek any permission from the administration.
